My understanding of utilizing selective prerendering is for a two-fold purpose: so that highly edited/manipulated scenes both can be viewed at full rez AND would not have to be re-rendered when completing the final render–correct? So for my purposes (HDV/ACVHD camera files to be edited and put on a Blue-Ray), what do you recommend I prerender to? Also, when I play back these prerendered scenes on the Vegas 12 timeline, will they play back smoothly at the Best/Full preview selection? I have mixed responses on another forum and wanted to corroborate my findings here, too. Please advise, and thank you in advance.

I have to admit, I’ve never used Selective Prerender and I’ve been using Vegas more than 10 years. I will occasionally do a prerender region to ram (Shift-B)to make sure a transition or F/X is working as expected.
It’s possible that you aren’t getting a reply because no one else is using it either.

Thanks for jumping in, Steve. Due to the bug in V12 that crashes many of our editing sessions when using RAM Preview, I am unable to view highly edited scenes using this method and MUST Selectively Prerender to view such scenes as they will look finished. I merely am looking for the best methodology to fulfill this need. This is why I am soliciting suggestions. Do you or anyone else have any further thoughts on this subject, all of which will be most appreciated? Thanks again in advance.
