Using Vegas Pro 8, and when I split a piece of audio (using S key), a purple little tick mark, as pictured below, shows up at the split. This mark goes away if I use a crossfade (by the way, QuickFade Audio Edits is OFF).

The mark itself doesn’t bother me except it MAKES A SOUND. Somehow, it’s altering the audio when two pieces of audio are next to each other.

Any idea what this is, and how to get rid of it?

    Thanks!

[Ernest Rosado] “by the way, QuickFade Audio Edits is OFF”

You’ve just discovered why QuickFade Audio Edits exists and why you should NEVER turn it OFF. The click happens because audio edits don’t always happen at waveform zero crossings and the quick fade is there to eliminate this artifact. Turn it back on and your problem is solved.

Thanks for that answer. However the artifacts that are created by quickfades are FAR more intrusive than what I find here. What’s weird is I don’t have this issue on other versions of Vegas. Is this something unique to v8?

    Thanks

It could be a bug because as you said, other versions don’t have this problem. And if it is a bug, it will never be fixed so why not just use a version that doesn’t have the problem?

Would love to, alas the place that I’m working on this project only has v8. I’ve used subsequent versions at home and in other workplaces. But my projects will be edited by other editors here after I leave so I need to stick with what they’ve got. I appreciate your help though, thanks!

That’s too bad. Vegas Pro 8.0 was fairly buggy if I remember correctly. Not a good version to standardize on.
