    Hi there.

This message usually comes up to me when I´m trying to preview a comp and the timeline indicator is at the last frame (and I have the preview set to from current time).

It means you just have one frame so there´s no was AE can create an animation.

I don´t know much about your situation (comp lengh, size, poit in time…) but it came to mind.

Hope it was of some help.

    Cheers.

    ninguem.

I had the same error once, and so did my colleague, repeatedly on one project. I think I fixed it using the ‘cough, ahem’ method as mentioned above.

I don’t know what causes it.. I definitely had more than 2 frames that I was trying to RAM preview.

Purge clears your RAM preview and caches and such.

I feel like the error message you mentioned might be some kind of bug, possibly related to rendering big or complex scenes.

..ahaa that makes sense. If it happens to me again that’ll be the first thing I check.

Yes I emptyed the cache and restarted after effects and can now ram preview.

I don’t believe the play head was at the end of the comp but it may have been, good thing to look out for in the future.

    Thanks
    Matt.

I’ve had this same issue on quite a few occasions and usually a restart will fix things. Coincidentally enough the first project I worked on after seeing this thread had this error. Strange voodoo there.

Restarting doesn’t always help. You might have to trash your Preferences file too. Just an additional FYI.

    Cheers,
    Ben
