    You can’t go with a prior version. Apple pulled FCS2009 from all the VARs/vendors as well as their online store of course.

    I personally believe FCPX is worth learning. It’s not what I’d use to start a business right now. At $400 (Motion and Compressor including), it’s worth investigating while you use Avid or Premiere if you’re making an NLE purchase for a business.

    Download the demos of Avid/Premiere. Go to an Apple Store and try X. Pick the one you like the most.

    If you’re brand new to editing you’ll likely find X to be the easiest to learn of the 3. Then it really comes down to what you need it to do.
