    Hi all,
My company’s thinking of buying a few new aquisition cards for our G5’s for use with Final Cut Pro 5, After Effects 6.5 & 7 and all the other Mac video software. We’re seriously considering the Black Magic Design Decklink HD Extreme. We need good capture cards for SD now and HD down the line. We’re planning on picking up LaCie Biggest Disk S2S SATA RAIDs to go along with them. The RAIDs should run at 3.5 Gb/s. Our G5’s run 2 2.0 Ghz, one with one GB RAM, the others with 2GB.
I would like your opinions. Does anyone have a similar set-up? How does is run 10-bit uncompressed SD? HDV? DVCProHD? Will we get any speed enhancements out of the cards or do they just run higher quality footage RT? Will our RAM cover the extra strain of uncompressed editing?
    Thanks for your help.
