  • Pulsating Pipe?

    Hi

I have a client who is asking me to make a pipe that is pulsating. This seemed pretty reasonable to me, but now that I’m getting to work on it, it has stumped me. I am wondering if anyone out there has any thoughts on how to tackle this one that they might be willing to share.

The first question is how to create the pipe. It doesn’t have to be anything too nice, just a simple shape to represent a pipe. I was just going to put some shapes together in illustrator. I’d like to have some kind of 3d pipe, but I guess, After Effects, no can do.

the bigger thing is how to do the pulsing effect. Any ideas?

Thank you all for your help.

    Hi

Thanks for the tip. Forgot to mention that the animation is in 3D. The pipe doesnt necessarily need to pulsate in 3d, but the layer needs to be in 3d space. For some reason mesh warp doesnt seem to work in 3d space.

Anyone have any other thoughts, or have advice on getting mesh warp to work in 3d–is it just a matter of precomping?

    Thanks!
