psd layer…strange artifact
Hello all,
I have a psd file I’m using in FCP 6 that contains a few layers of text to be used as lower thirds graphics. Some of the text layers are fading up and out over a black solid…which looks fine.
However, I have other layers that fade up and out over some video footage. In this case along with the text a very faint (but definitely still noticeable) white transparent background appears to fade with the text. It looks the equivalent of a white solid with maybe 10% opacity. It fades in and out with the text.
My layers are flattened and contain no layer styles. This white shading is not present in photoshop.
This only happens on export. I exported photoJPEG 100%, the same as my intermediate codec.
Anyone ever had this happen before?

Correction, the artifact is visible within FCP. damn you fcp.

Well I just exported my native resolution (1280×720) and the artifact is gone. The previous render (and when I view it in FCP) has been at 50 rez, 720×405. Strange. I guess when I need to render smaller sizes I can just encode from a loseless full render and it should be fine. But still this is lame. I’ve had similar problems with text when rendering smaller sizes too. FCP always does funny little things like this, no?
