I’m working between Photoshop and AE, and I’ve imported a PSD to a comp with cropped layers. If I go back into Photoshop and say, add a layer to the file, is there a way to update the file in AE without reloading it? I know how to update existing layers but not how to get AE to read new ones.

    Thanks!

Yes, which is very handy, but I specifically want to add new layers

something strange happened to my reply… maybe this one will stick.

if you add layers, they will not show up in the project/comp. you will need to reimport the file…

however, if you have already started to animate/effect the other layers in the sd, and don’t want to lose that, you can choose to import only specific layers. import the psd, but choose ‘as footage’ and then choose ‘specific layer’ and select the layer. then just add that layer to the comp.
