Hi am new to fcp and would like some help.

I work for a realestate company and i am trying to put a photo of a sales person in a video i am making, but when i put it in to the video, the sales person shows up with a white block around them. Yet in photo shop and in finder on the mac it is just a photo of them with no background. How do i put the sales person in with out the white back ground ?

    Any help would be great

    thanks Nick

Go into Photoshop and check your .psd file – is it only 1 layer, with “Background” being that one layer? The transparency is not preserved if that is the only layer. Double-click that layer to change it from background to any name you want to give it (such as Layer 1). Save it, then go back to FCP and import it and see if that clears it up.

If not – in your timeline, select the photo, then do Modify -> Alpha Channel and be sure you have “Straight” selected. That usually fixes this type of issue. If it doesn’t, try each of the Alpha Channel options to see if it fixes it.

    Good luck!
