I just want someone to tell me what the hell I’m doing wrong.

When I import my .psd into AE it imports as one merged layer. Even when I import it as a composition it doesn’t give me the dialog box to do anything with the layers.

Anybody got any ideas or solutions they would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Brian.

Ok, so I found out what my problem was – in case anyone ever had the same problem and like me, they also have an IQ of 2.

ALWAYS make sure your file is in the right color mode.

    AE likes RGB.

Hey Dog! Another thing to bear in mind when you bring something into AE that originated in a different color space (I assume you got bit by CMYK) is that there is always a slight color shift when you make the conversion, whether it be from Illustrator CMYK to Photoshop RGB, or the conversion is made in Photoshop. We’ve had clients send in logos where the color has to be accurate, and they complain after they see it on the air. We have a policy that if a file comes in from the outside, the client has to do the CMYK to RGB conversion on their end and eyeball it to make sure they’re happy.

Ahh thanks! That’s good to know. If I am ever in that position, I will tell them that.
