PSD files – Wrong Resolution in FCP
Hi! I have limited experience with Final Cut, and I am very new to Creative Cow. My question is probably very stupid, but here’s my problem:
I am importing .psds to Final Cut to create simple animations using the layers. I can do that just fine, but when I view the sequence within my project, the resolution is wrong – the layer doesn’t cover the whole screen and the image is squished in. My video clips are all 1920×1080, and I am working in .psds that are 1920×1080 72 ppi. The weirdest part is, if I export the image from Photoshop as a .png, the resolution comes out correctly. It really seems like there is some simple setting that I am just not finding. Help!
I am using FCP 7.0.2 and Photoshop 12.0.2 x64

Your Photoshop file is probably 1920×1080 SQUARE pixels.
What are the exact Sequence settings of your FCP Timeline?

Thanks! I figured it out about ten minutes after writing this post. Doh.
You were right. All I had to do was change the Sequence’s pixel aspect ratio to square.
