PSD files import. Not the usual questions
I am gettig some odd behavoir when importing psd files in to FCP 5. I’ve searched the forum, and read the Ken Stone articles, with no clear answer in sight.
When I export .psd from a 2D application called Digicel, open them in PS, manipulate (add a couple of layers and paint) and hit save, those imported files come into FCP NOT as sequences but as ‘abc’ bitmap files. They are compressed with Planar RGB. (This is actually what I want to happen as it’s easiest for my pipeline.)
When I save those files as another name, or create a psd from scratch in PS, I get the behavoir documented in the tutorials and the help files: That is, the psd files are imported as a sequence (with a default timebase of 30fps which sucks, because my project is 24p, but this is a different issue).
Here’s an odd thing: The only difference that I can tell between the psd files from these different two sources is that under Item Properties>Creator: the digicel psd files actaully say Preview, while the ones made in photoshop of course say Adobe Photoshop 7.
Can anyone shed any light? Or at least tell me how to create psd files that import into FCP with Planar RGB compression? As I say, I’d like to be able to control this because for my particular workflow I like the initial psd file import behavoir.
Thanks!
