psd file import
Posted by Motionpal on March 10, 2006 at 8:19 amI’m trying to import some photoshop files which have transparent backgrounds, but when I import, I get error saying the file does not contain composite image.
Does anyone know in what format I need to save so I can import these photos?thanks

March 10, 2006 at 4:06 pm.psd or .tif can have transparency. In any other format you would need to copy the transparency to an alpha channel, but I think that only .psd, .tif, .tga, .pct or .png will carry an alpha channel. You should consult the manual or help for Photoshop if you need help creating an alpha channel.

March 10, 2006 at 10:11 pmAre the layers with content visible when you save the file?
Are you importing the files with single layers, layers intact or merged?

March 11, 2006 at 12:43 amIf you’re using Photoshop CS2, make sure you save with the maximize compatibility option turned on (this is in Photoshop’s File Handling preferences). This will ensure that .psd files have the composite layer saved with it, which Motion needs to read in a file with transparency.

March 11, 2006 at 9:39 amThe layers are visible and saving with layers. I don’t understand why the same file comes up fine in FCP with transparency but in motion as soon as I import it, the Icon is all whit with some text. I drag it to the work area, then I’m able to see the erroe saying the file does not contain compsite image. I tried to creat a alpha layer and save it as tiff and psd, still no luck
