    Hey All,

I have a PSD that I have imported into AE that makes it run really slowly. Unbearable on my 2010 MBP 2.66 i7 8gRAM and less so on my 2011 3.0 i7 quadcore imac 16gRAM.

The PSD is mostly type layers (used as a template for mass translation via custom script) about 20-40 layers.

Is this normal to run so slowly? If not is there anything else I should consider to boost performance? A new machine is out of the question with budget constraints and I’ll mostly use the imac.

Adobe PS 6 and AE 5.5

    Thanks.

How big are the layers/PSD file?
Is the resolution of the PSD 72 dpi or more?
What resolution is the project n AE?
Do you use any Layer Styles?

The PSD is 1280×720 at 72dpi, same as the AE Comp.
The PSD is about 17megs after I originally posted I neglected to comment that I’m also using one that has about 15 folders, each containing about 20ish type layers. I know it’s a bit but it shouldn’t shut down my machine like it does.
No layerstyles are used and if they were (wich they weren’t I chose merge layer styles but to retain layer size)

Try saving the PSD as several files- each one containing only one set of text layers. Import them separately and see if AE still acts up.
