I have a psd that isn’t working in Motion and I can’t figure out why. I know that my versin of Motion 5 can accept psds because I have a test one I’ve thrown into it several times. It brings in all the layers and everything.

When I try to import this one though, I get a message that says that it doesn’t work with that codec.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any reasons why a psd file might not import properly into Motion 5?

I’m not sure, BUT I think it can have something to do with the bit resolution of the .psd file. Try opening it Photoshop and when saving it again look for a setting where you can adjust this. I don’t own Photoshop so I don’t know where to find it, but I think I’ve read something like that before.

Sadly, that has been tried… Not a bad idea though.

    Hmm..

Ok next thing I’d try is opening and resaving it in Fireworks or Pixelmator 😀

Is it in CMYK color mode? Needs to be RGB.

Yeah, it’s in RGB. I’m beginning to think this is a me specific problem… Not quite sure how to troubleshoot…

Um, that worked. I downloaded the demo of pixelmator and it fixed it… I’m more than kind of shocked… I can’t figure, for the life of me, why.

    Hi Jay,

Are you able to share the file for someone else to trial for you ?

    I’m offering for one.

Sure, if you’d like, it’s a 147 meg file, but if you have a drop box account I can share it across to you… Just PM me.
