I had posted about needing to key out a gradient, a dim grayish/blue to a dim greenish background behind a time-lapse image of a rose (on a stem, green of course) opening.

Well, I took the clip into PhotoshopCS3 xtnd and used adjustment layers to ultimately create a black and white track matte..hooray!

however, because of the fine colors, the track matte (the black blob that is the silhouette of the rose opening) is just about 3 pixels too big in some areas.

Is there a way in AE to apply a layer/or effect to do the opposite of Grow Bounds? I just need to shrink the outside edge by about 3 pixels… but scaling just doesn’t work since it’s so organic.

So I have a morphing black blob on white that starts as a bud and blooms open but I need to shrink it through out.

    Thanks

Thanks Dave! I had never used Shift Channel before.

I wondered why using the photoshop movie as a track matte wouldn’t choke for me!
