Basically, ProPhoto is a better match as a working gamut for modern cameras. It’s an intermediate working space for heavy retouching. You’ll drop down to Adobe 1998 (most print workflows) or sRGB (web/monitor display)
Adobe 1998 was developed by Adobe as a way of showing a gamut of color printers of capable of reproducing with some tradeoffs to still be displayed on a computer monitor.
