  • Proxy files used in MultiCam?

    Hi ladies and gents.

Quick question. I am doing a project with some go pro and Sony A7S footage. I converted everything to proxy files and things are running smoothly. When I create a multicam clip, the background processes rev up and FCPX is transcoding the files in the Multicam.

So my question(s) is(are)… Why doesn’t the multicam shot I created simply use the proxy files that I generated? Is this a setting I’m unaware of?
Is optimized multicam footage different from proxy files? Wha?

    Thanks in advance!

    James.

One can only assume that it’s transcoding as per the default preference setting:

Whether you’re currently in proxy mode or not, with the default setting it will/should transcode for when you’re in ORIGINAL mode either way.
