I set up a title in the ProType Titler that I wanted to use as a template, so I saved it. The problem is that when I type in a different title than that which I saved, it creates an unwanted keyframe that I manually have to delete, then have to manually line up the title again. It starts out with a Gaussian blur, focuses, and then slides off to the side. So is there a way to prevent a keyframe from being created (as I have to move a second or so into the title to see it due to the blur at the head of the title effect)? As a result, different sized fonts and numbers of words at the newly created keyfrme point do not line up with the lettering at the beginning of the title (blurred). I know that there is a way to turn off keyframing with the Pan/Crop Tool, but is there also one that I have overlooked with this new titler?

I’m sure that some Vegas guru has the answer to this one. So would one of you kindly jump in and help a newbie? Thanks in advance.

If you have the main titleline selected in the keyframe dialog, and double-click the title in the window to edit it, no new keyframe should be created regardless of where the cursor is in the timeline.
I may not be explaining it well in print, but this is something I perform every day, all day, using title templates and then modifying the characters. Trust me, it’s possible.

Let me clarify on my end, Spot. If I go to my template and double click on the saved title, then type in different letters, it creates a keyframe UNLESS I am at the very beginning of the keyframe timeline. Since I need to move in a second or two to see the text (it begins with a gaussian blur, remember) this new keyframe is created and instead of the text coming in from a gaussian blur, focusing and then pushing off to the right, my text moves in the middle of the effect (which I do NOT want to happen–looks bad!) because this darn extra keyframe automatically was created!! So if there is no switch to turn off keyframing in the Pro Type titler, how do you do this? Am I in an incorrectly selected area, for if this does not happen to you I don’t know why it is happening to me? Is there any way for you to clarify this? Would you be able to post screen shots to show your method using my aforementioned effect? Any help that you can provide would be most appreciated, and I want to also tell you that without your VASST DVD Vegas training I wouldn’t be as far advanced as I am today with my Vegas/Architect skills–THANKS AGAIN, SPOT!!
