I’m looking for afilter to put on my 100 to protect the lens and am considering a UV filter or a circular polarizer. Can you tell me how useful a circular polarizer is with video? And what brand to look for (I can’t spend much more than $50)? Would a UV be the better option for general use? It may help to know that the bane of my video work is blown out highlights in whitewater on big rivers. I don’t think that this is the right application for a polarizer, but perhaps it would help.
Thanks again for taking the time. -Chris G.

A $25 UV or sky filter would be fine- just a piece of plastic to protect the glass- great idea. It does not effect the image at all- whereas a polarizer changes it considerably.
