ProRes work with Black Magic Decklink card?

July 8, 2008 at 5:48 pmYes. As the encoding is not handled by the card, but the computer. As long as you have an Intel Mac, you can capture ProRes. The Decklinik card just feeds it the HD signal.

Capturing Pro Res via your BM card is the only issue that you might have, all other funtionality works with even older less capable G5s.
What are you capturing from? If it’s a flavor of video that can be captured via firewire, there is a technique for capturing to Pro Res on the fly that works with any Mac. See Chris Poisson’s tutorial at https://library.creativecow.net/articles/poisson_chris/hdv-prores.php.
