  • ProRes – Faking vendor IDs for error-free FCP7 import

    I’m using ffmpeg 2.3.2 on a Mac, OS 10.8.5.

When using the default prores encoder in ffmpeg – kostya – I can’t seem to get the vendor flag such that the clips can import to Final Cut 7 without prompting the “not optimized” error. I know that it’s not an issue, but such things tend to scare editors.

Going by Kostya’s instructions from his blog (https://codecs.multimedia.cx/?p=388) and using the -vendor:v ap10 argument I still get the error when importing to FCP7. Has anyone found a way around this?

Studio – eMac G4, 256mb ram, Final Cut DV
    Mobile – IBM R50, 1024mb ram, 80gb Hitachi Travelstar ATA133 7200rpm hard drive
