ProRes codec vs QuickTime with no codec
Hi. Sorry for, what is probably a stupid question, but lately I’ve made some animations in AE (windows), that I’ve then, rendered in QT format (RGB/ALPHA) with no codec, cause I wanted the best quality possible; I didn’t care about the size of the file, so it wasn’t a problem. Later I’ve imported it to FCPX (mac) and everything there, was okay too.
Lately though.. I was searching for some information about broadcasting live, wirecast etc. and I’ve noticed, that a lot of people have been talking about ProRes codec and to be honest, i knew the name, but I’ve never knew what it was. I’ve looked it up and I’m interested, if there is any advantage in using this codec instead of my previous way, beside the size of the file ?
I’m a beginner in those type of animations in AE, so sorry if the answer is too obvious.. Sadly not yet for me 🙂
Thanks!
