Prores 4444 equivelent on PC
OK, so quite a bit of research has led me to think there is no prores 4444 equivalent on the PC. There is a prores 422 HQ (i.e. Avid DNxHD) and if you buy Avid you get a DNxHD 4444 but not with the free/LE Avid codecs.
Is this correct? What would be a good alternative to use for 4444.
I realise 4444 is overkill for a lot of things and this is discussed in lots of places. I am simply interested if there is a PC alternative.

Avid’s main DNxHD page links to an outdated version of the DNxHD codec (2.3.7).

One significant limitation of DNxHD’s current implementation is that it only supports HD; it does not support 4K or arbitrary frame rasters. I really like GoPro’s CineForm codec for these uses.
