    Compression is just a matter of economy, but nothing desirable.
    Go always to the less compressed format that you can afford.

    Anything 1080 or smaller, you should use ProRes.

    Anything larger than 1080 you should use HQ.

    Walter is correct, HQ is a waste under 2K.

    What is a mistake is to relate the data rate with the picture size, mostly in a VBR codec.
    Prores HQ could be a waste when capturing SD, but not when going up from there.
