  • ProRes 422 (HQ) export to XDCAM HD adds A LOT of black/blank footage

I’ve seen a similar posting, but no answers.

We have sports footage recorded at ProRes 422(HQ) 720p60 that needs to be sent to a broadcaster at

    XDCAM HD 422 1080i50 (50/Mbps) (.mxf wrapper)

I can export it through the Sony XDCAM Browser Export, and it looks great, but it adds a LOT of black/blank footage to the end. Seems like 2 – 4 times as much. I’m only testing a 45 second clip and the resulting export, is 110 seconds. I would hate to see what our 2 hour show would result in.

I have exported through Quicktime conversion and it keeps the clip at 45 seconds, but I’m not sure if the quality is the same (plus it’s now in an .mov wrapper). Plus I don’t have the same level of control of the audio channel designation.

I know others have had this problem, but has anyone fixed it??

    No one??

Can anyone at least CONFIRM that an Sony XDCAM export does NOT add extra black to the clip? I’d be interested in any of the exports: original Sony XDCAM export, Sony XDCAM Browser export, or Sony XDCAM Content Browser Export from FCP 7 as they have all added black footage.

    Original Clip/Sequence: Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) 720p60
    Exported to: XDCAM HD 422 1080i50 (50Mbps)

    TIA
    Patrick
