I am starting a new project on which all of the files will be recorded to Prores 422 HQ on a Aja Ki Pro Mini Compact Field Recorder.

I currently have PP CS5 on my MacPro and would like to know if there is an advantage to upgrading to PP CS5.5 before starting the project.

    Thanks
    Bob

I only upgraded recently, but Premiere 5.5 does seem to be more responsive, particularly when reading image sequences (the bulk of my work). I’d say it is the perfect time to upgrade.

Not sure about Mac, but on the PC side, Premiere has had issues accepting ProRes files with 4-channel audio, which was just fixed with the latest update for CS5.5

I run CS5 at home and the 2-channel ProRes files from the Ninja recorder work great, while 4-channel clips give me a “File not supported” error when attempting import.

Yeah, I just tried to import the first ProRes files into CS5 and got that “file not supported” error. I guess I should update.

Can I just copy the files from the CF card or do I need to make a Disk Image?

    Thanks,

    Hi Bob,

Not sure what KiPro uses for a file directory structure, but best practice is to copy over the works intact – do not rename any files or folders. This is especially true with the new AVCHD format cameras, copy the works over and do not alter anything, or linkages get broken between audio, video, metadata, all that.

    Thanks Jeff.

I have another question but I think I will start a new thread for it.
