April 25, 2007 at 4:40 pmMultiple streams for 10-bit in multicam view seems like a good application for the Apple ProRes codec…
I’m happy 😉

April 25, 2007 at 4:43 pmI agree with Jeremy. 10-bit is too much for a FW800 under heavy workload. It can work great for certain situations, but when you start to fill the thing up with different clips, render files, etc., it becomes full and fragmented. Performance will dip considerably. And some people need more than 2 streams at a time.
It doesn’t make sense financially either. For a similar price you can get a 4-disk SATA array.

April 25, 2007 at 7:34 pmMy biggest hope when using this codec in standard def is that it fixes the green rendering artifacts that the current 10 bit uncompressed codec makes when you use mix it with anything with an alpha channel or use composite modes. While they’re at it, faster rendering in high precison 10 bit YUV mode would be nice as well.
