ProRes 422 Files Blurry in FCP7 Canvas?
Hi all,
I am using FCP7 to edit ProRes 422 files. The files look great in the viewer, but appear pixelated and blurry in the canvas. I did an export test and they also export in the same blurry way.
The clips are 1910×1080 ProRes 422s converted from MTS files using Anusoft Video Converter.
I believe the issue is that the 422s are too large for the FCP timeline/canvas, but I’m not sure how to compress them without losing quality. Any advice will be highly appreciated!

1920×1080 I hope. From what source?

Hardly. FCP is designed to work with full res, 1920×1080 ProRes 422, HQ or even 4444 files. I suspect your sequence settings are some other, lower quality setting, like DV/NTSC.

Yes, they’re 1920×1080, converted from MTS files from a Lumix GH2.What should I try resetting the settings to?

They need to match your clip. If you drop a clip into a blank sequence, FCP asks if you want the settings to match. Click YES.
