  • Proper XML file name to open in FCP7

Posted by Christopher Kinsman on June 2, 2010 at 1:11 am

Hi, trying to open an xml file in FCP7 and it’s greyed out. It came in via email with a .dat suffix attached. Is this correct or does this need to be changed. Can’t find any data on this. Thanks a million for your advise.

    Kind Regards,

    Chris K

That’s your email program screwing it up.

Have the other person resend the file, but zip it first.

You can also try and find a winmail.dat translator.

OK, so I changed the suffix to .mxl and FCP sees it. When I go to import this it gives me a “please choose a translation doc” message. Any ideas? Kind Regards!

File > IMport > XML. DOn’t just try and import to the browser.
