  • Proper settings for ETT from DV sequence

I need some assistance with an Edit to Tape op. [NOTE: I do a lot of capturing but this is the first time I’m actually laying a project back to tape.] Here are the details:

I’ve got a DV NTSC 48 KHz sequence which I’m trying to assemble onto an already blackened DVCAM tape using a DSR-1500 deck. I’m hooked up via SDI through an IoLD. I set an in point of 00:58:30:00, to leave room for the leader. When I drop the sequence onto the ETT assemble overlay, the transfer doesn’t start and it appears as if FCP is trying to render (write) the sequence into something else (it doesn’t say what, of course). That doesn’t seem right to me. The sequence is all green (needs no rendering) and plays back perfectly when I preview it from the canvas. So I’d expect the ETT to start right up. I’m guessing I’ve got something configured incorrectly somewhere.

Anyone have a recipe for this particular dish? ;-> It would be most appreciated!

Oh yeah – I’m in FCP 5.0.3 running 10.4.2. IoLD drivers and firmware are up to date. The machine is a dual 2.0 GHz with 2.5 GB of RAM.
