  • Proper drive management on home CS4 system?

Posted by Cassandra Chowdhury on February 4, 2010 at 9:34 pm

I have a question about my CS4 home editing system. We’ve set it up so the page file and the adobe media cache is set up on a single 7200rpm drive, while all the raw video data is located on a striped raid drive. Windows and all other programs are running on a separate 7200rpm drive.

Is this a good setup, or is there some reorganization we can do to make the system run more efficiently?

You pretty much have the perfect setup. Although, you would want your preview files to be on the RAID as well, especially if you are rendering to uncompressed.

Does that mean we should switch the media cache to the raid, or switch one of the setting in Premiere to save previews next to the originals? Thanks for the quick response!
