Pronunciation Guide for VO work– “click and hear” words spoken
I work for a medical publishing company. Recently I’ve been assisting audio projects in the recording studio acting as the monitor. I have zero medical/science training, yet I am being asked to make jugement calls on pronunciations. We include pronunciation keys in the scripts, but I find this cumbersome and difficult under pressure. $400 an hour you can’t delay too long with these things!
What I need is a talking cheat-sheet. I plan to revisit old projects we’ve already recorded and extract sound bytes of terms. I can save each as a .wav or .mp3.
Wondering if anyone has done something similar and if some type of program exists to automate the search/click and listen element. If all else fails, I’ll probably create hypertext links for all and host the data files on a root directory.
