    Hello,

I’m in the process of doing a preliminary render, as an AVI, of a 4-minute video I’ve worked long and hard on. A client needs to see what I’ve been doing for him for two months.

To my horror, the render I’m getting is ruled horizontally by many pronounced horizontal lines.

Also, why won’t VEGAS permit me to export a dimension VIMEO has recommended: 853×480 ?

What on earth are these horizontal lines? If they are some form of video compression, I just can’t live with them, they’re hideous and ruin my whole concept.

Am I misunderstanding something? Can I fix this? Try some other export combination? help!

    Thanks, Dave

It sounds like you have an interlacing problem which is usually caused by an incorrect interlace setting somewhere in your workflow. You’re going to have to tell us exactly what that workflow is:

    • What is the exact make and model of the camera?
    • What video setting did you use to record?
    • What are your project settings in Vegas?
    • What is the deinterlace setting in the Vegas project properties?
    • What render template did you use to render?

If you changed any of the default settings on either the project template or render template we need to know that too. If I had to guess, I’d say that you changed your deinterlace setting to None the the project properties and you are using interlaced footage.

Also, why won’t VEGAS permit me to export a dimension VIMEO has recommended: 853×480 ?

What render template won’t let you do this? If you are rendering for Vimeo you should be using the Sony AVC render type with one of the Internet templates..
