Had one for a year. It’s pretty great and painless.

I see a lot of buyers reviews where they have issues with them…
I bought a WD TB Raid, not near as fast.

I see. Are they mechanical failures or just people that don’t like how long it takes to build a raid, but say it actually performs awesomely and it’s the best thing since sliced bread, but they give it two stars? 🙂

    I’ll check it out.

I have exactly zero day to day thunderbolt experience so I am just wondering if there’s any mechanical issues, points of failure.

I think overall it’s great, it’s the new firewire, plug in and go.
The speed is amazing. I’m using TB on an iMac with out issue.
When I purchase another TB raid it will be a Pegasus most likely.

I won’t take a WD even if I get it for free.
Two one FW-800/USB and one USD HDs died in the last two months, and both with just few weeks use.

After years of screwing around with mini-sas enclosures, firmware updates, lame http interfaces, pci card jiggering, etc., it’s a breath of fresh air. I think even with the 6 disk one we have, the speed isn’t limited by the cable but by the drives. I’ll be attaching a Blackmagic Ultrastudio express this afternoon. This is on an imac.

    Thunderbolt is your friend.

That’s what we’re running and occasionally we have to unplug the TB and plug it back in to wake it up make it work. Grr!
