Projectors for Photo Montages
Posted by Bob Carpenter on January 27, 2006 at 10:57 pmAnybody have any recommendations on a good projector for showing montages at reception venues. Some of venues in this area have alot of ambient light. I should say projector with the best bang for buck.

January 27, 2006 at 11:45 pmI would rent them. If you’re looking for a high quality image in many different situations, then I would look at high quality professional projectors which are more cost effective to rent than purchase.
Go to Panasonic’s website and look at their projectors in the business/professional section. We used one of there HD Large Venue projectors at a Regal Cinema theater here in Atlanta and the picture quality was outrageous.

January 28, 2006 at 1:53 amUnfortunately thats not an option. I have to many things to do by running all over the place to rent equipment for the weekend. I’ve also had problems with rentals in the past. Some of the equipment can look pretty beat up. Here in Rhode Island there really arent many good close by facilities to work with either.

January 28, 2006 at 3:10 amYou will get by with any LCD/DLP video Projector with at least 2000 Lumens. Sanyo, Panasonic, Optoma, In-Focus and Sony are great brands.
I have a Sanyo PLC-SU30 (discontinued) mounted for my home theater and a Panasonic PT-LB10 for portability.
HD looks incredible on both.

January 28, 2006 at 6:45 pmLook at D-ILA projectors from JVC
These are designed for video projection where color fidelity is importantWe have these installed on a 2K grading suite along with them installed in our standard edit suites
Looks as good a a Large song tube monitor but the picture is 10 times the size!

January 28, 2006 at 8:57 pmI’m looking into the OPtoma 739 right now. A few friends say they are a great bang for the buck and are about 2500 lumens with a contrast ratio of about 2000. I’ll have to find a place in rhode island that carries them, so I can take a peak.
