[Dan Donaldson] “Hello. I am trying to make a projector light. I was figuring of using a spot light and pulling it away from the wall so that it gave me the circle that I wanted. Am I heading in the right direction?”

Yup. And you can use the light transmission property of 3D layers to shine lights through them (like a projector shining light through film) to make an image:

[Dan Donaldson] “Also, I wanted to add a gate weaving effect like the one showing here.”

There are quite a few ways to accomplish that effect, but I’d start with wiggling [link] a layer’s position.

I oversimplified in my last response; wiggling position will only get you part of the way there. I’d wiggle the image’s horizontal position, and wiggle the vertical position of an offset effect [link].

Or better still, follow the link from the doc’s comments to Lloyd Alvarez’s expressions for imitating a film project [link].
