im trying to open my project in after effects. it’s saying, ‘after effects warning: unable to import file ; on going as a project (bad format or not readable)’

at this point i think its gone but its really important and i spent hours on it. is there any way for me to open it?

Since the error message says “import” rather than open: Are you sure you’re trying to open an After Effects file?

well, don’t forget to try and Import the file as well. But it sounds a lot like you have yourself a corrupt file.
Don’t forget that if you’ve rendered it out, there’s usually a copy in the AME folder.
And you Should have Autoback turned on by default as well, also assuming this was your file to begin with.

Just to see if you get Something, also try importing it into Premiere and/or AME. Sometimes one works and not the other.
