Project types etc.
I have a few questions here. I am running on version 5.0 of Premiere. However, I was given a project that was edited on both 5.0 and 5.5 apparently. I am currently trying to sift through the mess.
– For starters, I was given a small drive with all of the projects on it. I tried double clicking on the project file to open them but Premiere attempted to convert it, when nothing actually ever ended up converting. I am assuming that this is because the project originated from 5.5 that it wants to convert it upon opening? Regardless, I was able to import it into a new project in 5.0. Is there any difference between the 2 methods of opening them? Can problems arise by trying to open a project from 5.5 within 5.0?
– The footage was all shot in 720p 59.94. I would imagine that it only makes sense to edit a project in that same resolution, right? I ask because there are sequences within the project in different resolutions. One is 720p 29.97, another is 1080 59.94, while yet another is 1080 29.97. None of this makes any sense obviously. With that in mind, the final product is going to SD-DVD, even though it was shot in HD. Based on all of this, is there any reason not to edit the project in the native settings?
– One last question: Being that this is going to an SD-DVD and not Blu-ray, I am assuming it needs to be downconverted within Premiere somehow. What would be the best way to do this? The main issue before with the last editor was that she could not burn the DVD without the footage looking blurry to some degree. I am needing to make sure that this gets done with the sharpest image possible.
Thank you so very much for your help!
