  • Project that started shooting 1080, then switched to 720p

So I just got a project that was shot with the Panny AG-HPX500 (footage looks pretty good). They started shooting 1080 23.98, then decided to switch for the majority of the project to 720p 23.98. All of this footage was already brought into FCP from P2 cards before I got to it, so Im trying to figure out my workflow. Should I just work in a 720p 23.98 timeline and just start throwing the 1080 footage in with the 720 and render it out or should I go back and convert all of the 1080 stuff with compressor?

Also when I look at the footage on my NTSC through component (have a Sony multiformat that shows HD through component), it looks squeezed? This is on a 720p DVCProHD timeline.

    thks everyone…

I would work in a 720p timeline and just put the 1080 stuff in that. You might want to set your render settings to high precision YUV and set motion to best. Should look fine.

    Have a wonderful day.

Thks, thats what I was thinking, although hadnt thought of rendering in high YUV…Ill test it out. Any ideas why my footage would look squeezed in my NTSC monitor? Funny thing is the 1080 stuff that is rendered in the 720 timeline looks fine, but the 720 stuff on a 720 timeline looks squeezed? Im sure its something Im being stupid about…

Um, is your sequence set to anamorphic?

    Have a wonderful day.
