Project Settings for Sony HDR-PJ10
What would be the best Project Settings for importing and editing HD footage from my Sony HDR-PJ10? Would it be HDV 1080-60i (1440 X 1080, 29.970 fps) or HD 1080-60i (1920 X 1080, 29.970 fps) What is the difference between the two? Full-resolution rendering quality: is set to Best, right? What about the pixel format: Mine is 8-bit that can’t be right, can it? A secondary question. To output the highest resolution possible to Blu-Ray Disc, what steps are involved? Do I have to Prepare and Burn in DVD Architect the way it was with DVD’s or is their a new direct method now? I read somewhere about exporting to .m2t and burning as a Data Disc onto a DVD, and Blu-Ray would be able to read it. Or is that just pure misinformation?

For that camera you should use HD 1080-60i (1920 X 1080, 29.970 fps).

HDV is for use with HDV cameras which use non-square pixels and have less horizontal resolution. Your camera shoots 1920×1080 so that’s what you should use.

Nope. Best is only needed if you are resizing large images. Good is the preferred method for straight video editing.

Yes, that is exactly right. 8-bit is the default and unless you have a real good reason to change the defaults, you should use them.

Yes. You render to one of the Blu-ray formats (MPEG2 or AVCHD) using one of the supplied Blu-ray templates and author in DVD Architect just like you do with DVD’s. Nothing is different except the formats. You can burn a Blu-ray directly from the timeline but it won’t have any menus.

Misinformation. I believe that works with a Playstation 3 but not a normal Blu-ray player.
