project settings
I just have one question – can I make my project settings just before rendering the hole project or do I have to make them at the beginning, before starting editing? It is because I forget to make them, and I am afraid I have to edit the hole project again

Project settings are so you can see what the final project will look like on your computer while you’re editing.
That have no bearing on your final render so, as long as you’re happy with it, render as desired.
If you really want to do it, go ahead.
The only place I can think that would impact it is if you did a “Match Out Aspect” in Pan/Crop as this is dependent on your project setting. -

I always set my project settings based on the footage I am using. I do a lot in HDV so I use 1440×1080, if I am using DVD widescreen (or DV widescreen) I use 702×480 widescreen..etc. That way you are in your native format to render out to whatever format you wish.

…hmmm… but if your footage consists of different codecs (STD PAL, Quicktime)?

I would set it for my highest media, or what you plan to render too…when I have multiple file formats I use the one that is the highest or the most common format that I have (like widescreen vs 4:3), etc…if you have multiple formats and are planning on delivering in just one format (like WMV or MPEG2) I would go with my delivery format. If you need to render to multiple formats, so with the most common aspect ratio or highest quality format…hope that helps!
