  • Project saved as prproj – invalid file type upon open?

Posted by Deborah Curtis on April 10, 2008 at 2:36 pm

I am a new user, and I have created one project which I saved as “filename.prproj” in Adobe. This is the default file type which is created when you do a file–>save

When I reopen PremierePro I select this file, which shows up on the initial screen. I then get an “invalid file type” and it will not open the file. I hit cancel- and then when the program loads my project is open.

I’m running 3.0 with the latest patch 3.1.1 installed.

THe Project file may have gotten corrupted. Premiere by default saves another copy every five minutes (Auto Save) for a total of 5. They are located in an “Adobe Premiere Pro Auto-Save” folder inside your project folder. Try to open the newest one (not #5 necessarily).

Thanks! I was able to open one of those and re-save the file. I think it was corrupt.
