Project & Rendering Settings for DVDs
I use Sony Vegas Pro 9e, but am battling with an issue relating to DVD creation. For Project Properties, I have been using the PAL DV template, and for rendering the DVD PAL template with Save As being Main Concept MPEG-2. I have also explored various widescreen options.
My problem is that, whilst the DVD plays pefectly in my Blu-ray player, when playing in my DVD player, the ends of some of the slides that have text over much of the slide is cut off.
Ideally, I am trying to burn a DVD which will play and reproduce pictures/slides correctly on widescreen format on both DVD players (since these are used by friends) and Blu-ray players as well.
Can you kindly advise if there are any check box options, or other methods,that I should use to correct this frustrating problem?

If the text is not within the “Title Safe” area it has the potential to be cut off. You need to keep all text within the title safe area. Like this:

You have indeed identified the problem, thanks very much. I checked some of the slides using the overlay, and some text was definitely not within limits. I’ll now use the overlay as standard practice in future! Your assistance was much appreciated.

These guidelines are also in DVDA as well, I use them for making sure menu items also stay within the safe areas!

With reference to your comments, I do not use DVD Architect but ArcSoft Total Media Extreme 2 to create menus and then burn DVDs. This software does not seem to use grids to limit text. But where the guidelines will also be applicable are in the use of Subtitles which I use. Here there is a Text Placement feature showing only the inner limit, to which I shall now adhere dutifully.
