Project Properties vs Render Settings?
How do they relate? Can anyone please tell me the details, or point me to somewhere that can?
When you render, you set all the settings, including the aspect ratio and in some cases the pixel AR as well. I assumed this meant you were controlling the entire output. But then I was experimenting with AR in the Project Properties, and lo and behold if I set the AR of the project to a “wrong” AR (not matching the AR of my desired output or my input…say, 1280*300) it altered the AR of the rendered video. Yet as far as I can see it has no effect on any other results….but now I am not so sure.
I ask because I had a lot of trouble getting smooth results when rendering. I now have good results if I go to mpeg-2, but still struggle with many other formats. I am now wondering if this is somehow related.
Also, do the project properties help with smoother editing and preview? I feel they do, but it does not seem consistent.

In general, project properties should match your media properties for smooth preview or render properties for full control of the final result.

I should point out that I have Studio, not Pro. I do not have most of the lower pane available to me.
However, what puzzled me was that setting the aspect ratio in the upper pane _does_ affect the AR of the render. If I set the Properties to 700*200, the the rendered output comes out all funny in shape. I know that’s a ridiculous setting but I did it to see what happened, as I assumed that the Properties settings did not affect rendering.
And isn’t rendering quality of the output decided at render as time? Is this one used just for those templates that have no option?
