  • Project on an external hard drive – moving to different machine problem

Posted by Brian Evancic on December 9, 2010 at 5:55 pm

I have a fcp project with multiple clips with difference aspect ratios. I have it on a external hard drive with the capture scratch dedicated to the project folder. When I move the hard drive to a different machine (with the capture scratch set correctly to the original location) it wants me to render all the clips but I haven’t done anything to them yet. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,

Are the machines equal in configurations? Speed? Card? Etc

The first machine is a iMac Core 2 Duo with 16GB RAM and the other is a Powerbook laptop with 4GB Ram. Would this make a difference?
    Thanks

    Well yes.

The Intel machine (Core Duo) is going to be faster and will effect render times as well if you need to render at all.

    Hope that helps.
