Project Manager not saving all my files?
I’m trying to reclaim some space on my HD and archive some older Premiere Pro projects. I read about Project Manager and decided to give it a try. I selected Project Manager and for the destination I selected a new folder that I created on my desktop to save the archived project to. I made sure in the “Resulting Project” section that “Collect Files and Copy to New Location” was checked. When I open the folder and open the .prproj file, it asks for the location of .aep files. I see my original video files (.wmv and .avi) I can see files with similar names in the “Media Cache” folder, but their extensions don’t match and PP won’t accept them as video files. They are .pek and .cfa files. Did I do something wrong? Does Project Manager not collect placed After Effects clips from my sequence?

After Effects projects need to be “collected” separately and there is a command in After Effects File menu to do so. Dynamic links will have to be relinked in either case; the process is still slightly cumbersome.
In terms of your media cache, this folder is strictly for temp files. CFA files are conformed audio: audio that’s been converted to an uncompressed format that Premiere can play back with really low overhead. PEK files are audio peak files… basically small files that represent and display the sound waves in Premiere. Both kinds of files can be deleted if space is at a premium; Premiere will recreate them as needed. It’s the same process as when you see “conforming” in the lower corner when you load new media.
