I have a 7 minute doc almost done (show time is in two days). Now about every ten minutes, FCPX crashes (new spinning beach ball) only solution is to force quit. I tried a test edit in another library and it seems ok. I suspect some media might be giving me trouble. I have imported a lot of different video, audio and photos into the event recently.

It crashes during simple edit steps, doesn’t seem to be a pattern. I made a new short project within the event and it still crashed quickly. Using 10.2.2 and El Capitan.

Suggestions on how to track this down and or other posts that can give me a clue? I may be able to limp through, but it is looking grim.
    Thanks, Claude Lyneis

Have you tried copying your project to a new library? Or deleting all your render and cache files and letting them rebuild?

It’s just that on my experience, that sort of issue is more likely caused by corrupt render files or database issues than the media itself – with the possible exception of oversized image files chewing up too much memory.

    Jeff:
I am not clear on how to copy my project to a new library. How does that work in terms of copying the files it will need? Will it then tell me it is moving the needed files into the new library? I will definitely give this a try, because the library is very large and the project files very small.

    So are the steps?
    Make a new library.
Make a duplicate project in old library
    Move duplicate to new library.
    Thanks

    Jeff:
I copied the project to a new library and it has been smooth sailing since. May not have resolved the problem in the old library, but thanks for saving my bacon.

    Glad it worked out 🙂
