Help I can’t open my project in FCP 5.1.2. When I try and open my project I get “This project is unreadable or may be too new for this version of Final Cut”. I am using the latest version…and have been for over 3 weeks with no problem.

Sad and scary thing is that I have commited the greatest editing sin of not making backups and or using autosave vault. Ouch!

I am on a a dual 2.5 G5 with 8gb ram and aja kona 2 hardware. My media is JVCHD capture 720p and last thing I did before crash was click on media in one of my bins.

    PLEASE….help anyone…

Did you figure this out yet? I’m having the same problem right now… I was using 5.1.2 on a powerbook G4, and now I’m trying to use 5.1.2 on a Macbook Pro with the same .fcp file and it gives me the same message. It gets to about 25% of opening before the message appears. Any advice?

I thought I was trashing my preferences correctly, however I was not.

To simplify trashing preferences (and backing up prefs as well) use FCP Rescue 5. This a free app and can be found at https://fcprescue.andersholck.com/

    This worked for me…so far

    good luck
