So, I’m playing some PROHD footage from a GY-HM700CHU shot in 720p 29.97fps in Final Cut Pro 7.0.1 through an AJA KONA LHI card into a Beta SP PVW-2800 deck.

The footage looks fine in the Final Cut, but on our NTSC monitors it looks like it has a posterizer efect on it. No matter what I do or how I convert it it still has this odd glitch. i really don’t want to send this stuff to a client if this is the final product. Any ideas where I’m going awry?

    Thank you for your help!

    Brian,

How are you monitoring out of the LHi? Is this via component?

It sounds as if you are monitoring the output of the deck. Have you tried running directly from the LHi to the monitor?

You need to connect the dots as directly as possible and track the source of the problem, eliminating as many things as possible in the signal path and then checking each once systematically. It could also be that you might need to uninstall and reinstall the Kona drivers.

Yeah, we’re monitoring out of the deck as the LHi doesn’t have a direct monitor option for some reason. And we’re coming out in YrB component.

I’ve connected it to the monitor and you’re right, the problem appears to be the deck down-converting the component input to composite for the monitors.

I’ve never seen this kind of problem before. I might try re-installing the LHi drivers anyway, just to be safe. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
